Ugalde Substitutes for Ajax in Tense Match
Ajax and FC Twente played out a goalless draw in the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Sunday, with Ugalde Arce coming off the bench to replace M.
The result marked Ajax's second 0-0 draw in a row after their stalemate against Vitesse in the KNVB Cup on Thursday.
FC Twente had the better chances in the first half, but Ajax improved after the break and dominated possession. However, they were unable to find a breakthrough, despite Ugalde's introduction.
Ajax remain top of the Eredivisie table, but their lead over second-placed Feyenoord is now just five points.
FC Twente, meanwhile, move up to seventh place with the point.
The match was marred by a red card for Ajax defender Devyne Rensch in the 35th minute.
Rensch was sent off for a tackle on FC Twente's Ricky van Wolfswinkel.
Ajax were forced to play the rest of the match with 10 men, but they managed to hold on for a point.
